With the warm weather in SW CO – mid 30s to high 40s – the streaming fishing has been incredible with the bread and butter white streamer. Due to the recent rain & snowfall, the lower Gunnison is off-color at the moment but will clear when we get some colder weather.
The small midges and micro-mays are still fishing well. With these ideal temps it’s overall a fantastic fishing for this time of year – 30 fish a day. See our website for more fishing info: https://www.gunnisonriverexpeditions.com/
Right now, the pheasant and Chukar hunting are great. The first snowfall didn’t do anything to hurt the cover. The tall wheat grass is holding the birds well – ideal for upland bird hunting with the warm temps and no snow. We’ve had several groups for either a morning or afternoon hunt, then filling in with duck hunts. We had a great goose hunt last weekend in Delta, with 4 flights of geese coming into our spread with good success. Most of the ducks have moved back into open water – pond and lakes – because of the warm weather. We’ll be back on the river as soon as we get another cold snap.
Let us know if you’re interested in an upland hunt.
