We had a guided dory float fishing trip yesterday and the fishing was good. Water temperature was 36 degrees below the confluence. From the confluence down to Austin the water was off color with 12 inch visibility. We had a lot of water in the river; the CFS was about 1355. In the Gunnison Gorge, it is running at 1130 CSF. The fishing was good from 9:00am to about 1:00pm, flys of choice were small midge patterns, streamers, and the San Juan worm. It seemed that anything with a little red in it was working. The BWO's came off early and we only saw one caddis. The March stone were on the move, we are expecting to see more adult flies in the next week. Be prepared for the North Fork to start running with the warm temperatures that we have been having. Just remember, when the North Fork gets high you cannot wade acrossed the river. Gunnison River Expeditions offers shuttles for this oncoming season and there is some salmon fly hatchs available. For any questions or daily report call 970-874-8184.
