Winter Fishing 2018

Greetings from Gunnison River Expeditions hoping everyone’s New Year has started off great, the Gunnison Gorge is flowing at 936.  Winter fishing has been off the charts this year, with warmer than usual temperatures and less moisture. Streamers, caddis, egg patterns, and midges have been the popular flies.  A slow ski and snowmobile season has made for a Winter fishing rush.

GRE went to the Denver Fly Fishing Show beginning of January, the best attendance we have seen. New era of fly fishermen. Great to see all the upcoming new fishing gear and people excited about fishing, getting us ready to start gearing up for the season. Thank You to all the people that stopped by our booth.

Bird hunting is still going strong and we will continue hunting til March.  With low snow pack the birds have a lot of ground cover.  We have great guides with new dogs.

We have a strong booking for June this year through the Gunnison Gorge, but the low snow pack and warm temperatures is looking like Spring could be a great time to take a trip. We have a few dates left in the beginning of June and end of May, we are thinking it could be a great trip.

The lower Gunnison Gorge trips will be available everyday this Winter. The jet boat will be back up and running in February.
